17 Hacks Every Stoner Should Know About
Stoners have come a long way – especially since we are highly regarded as the more innovative types (i.e. stoner McGyver’s). In a pinch, there is almost always a way to ensure your 420 sessions are filled with ease and glory. We’ve made a list of some of our favourite hacks, in no specific order. Thank us later 👍
1. Clean your pieces with Isopropyl and Coarse Salt
Get your pieces looking squeaky clean with this first stoner hack. Isopropyl alone does a great job at melting away tough resin build-up. With epsom salt or any other coarse salt, you create an exfoliant that will aid the process. Fill a ziplock bag with enough isopropyl to fully submerge your pipes/bubblers and add salt. For bongs and other similar pieces, find a way to seal your piece before beginning (we love these glass cleaning res caps). Pour the isopropyl and salt in. Agitate this mixture around as much as you can and let it sit overnight. Give it a rinse and I promise you, tomorrow morning, your pieces will be shining!
2. Don’t have anything around to smoke out of? Try the classic Apple Pipe
We’ve all been there. You’re out of papes, you don’t have a pipe on you, or you broke your bong and you have no way to smoke your flower. <Enter Apple Pipe> This classic always saves the day. And if you’re wondering what to use as a screen, find a pebble outside or weave a small screen using stripped twist ties you would get with a box of garbage bags. Yep – we’ve thought of everything!

3. Dry Boveda Pack? Make them usable again with this hack
Here’s a game changer: Don’t throw out those dried up, crystally Boveda packs. Instead, grab a ziplock bag, fill it with water, throw your boveda pack in there and let it soak (fully submerged) overnight. By morning, the pack will look quite wet. Remove it from the bag and pat it down to remove excess moisture. Set it out to dry on a washcloth or paper towel for a couple of hours. Once the Boveda pack is dry on both sides and squishy on the inside, you’ll be able to use it as normal. What a great way to #savetheterps
4. Best way to clean pipes? Pipe cleaners – literally!
They actually do exactly as their name implies. Get the more sturdy kind and use them with isopropyl for those extra tough spots. These really get the job done.
5. Keep your Lighter with your Bong
Always scrambling for a lighter after packing a juicy bowl? Us too. For this hack, you only need a glue gun/crazy glue and some magnets (we used these).

6. DIY Hash = Kief + Hair Straightener
So, you’ve been collecting all that kief in your grinder and you’re ready to make some hash? You don’t need any fancy equipment – just some parchment paper (don’t use wax paper!), newspaper, all your kief and a hair straightener. Check this video out on how to do it! 8. Make hash the easy way – Shoe/Boot Hash
Looking for a way to make hash that requires the least amount of effort? See what people are saying about boot hash on Reddit. This is an ideal way to make hash without a hair straightener. All you need is your packaged/secured kief and some patience – put it in your shoe and carry on with your day. After some time, your heels will have done all the work for you!
9. Drink water to curb the munchies
The classic stoner problem: munchies. Did you know that drinking a glass or two of water before a meal or snack can help curb overeating? A study found that drinking water before feasting helped both men and women eat less. They also found that participants felt just as satisfied as the group who didn’t drink water before eating a meal. Researchers published their findings in October 2018 in the journal Clinical Nutrition Research.
10. Keep a small brush and scraping tool with your grinder
Keep your grinder in tiptop shape while ensuring you’re collecting all the kief you can with a small brush and scraping tool. These things are so handy, you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one sooner. This one comes with 3 extra tools to share with your best buds.
11. If you don’t already have one, get 👏a 👏tray👏
If you don’t already have a tray, you’re missing out on an essential piece of your stoner kit. They’re an absolute godsend as they serve as a comfortable, flat surface to handle your flower and other 420-related things. For all you joint-rollers out there, this is a must have for you! 12. Reuse Your AVB – “Already Vaped Bud”
Don’t throw out your vaped weed. AVB (already vaped bud) is super versatile and can be used in many ways. For one, it works wonders in edibles. Here is a great how-to from WeedMaps on how to make edibles with AVB. The best part about cooking with AVB is that you skip the long process of decarboxylation. Since your flower has already been heated when you vaped it, all of the cannabinoids are activated and ready to infuse. Don’t forget to add your stems too!

13. Use AVB in Joints
Another perk to saving AVB is to use it as a filler in joints. Our favourite trick is to add a little bit of AVB near the filter of the joint – this way you don’t feel so bad ending a joint early.
14. Make canna oil and use it virtually any way!
Once you have this canna oil down, you’re setting yourself up for edible-making freedom with boundless potential. Our favourite recipe, by far, goes to DudeGrows with his How to Make the Most Potent Cannabis Oil AKA “Canna Butter”. This recipe is foolproof and oh so potent with our Garlic Z. 15. Add mint to your joint for a menthol flavour

16. Use Hemp Wick instead of a Lighter
In an effort to be health-conscious and also to glorify the plant we love so dearly, hemp wick is a wonderful alternative to lighting your stash. Essentially, hemp wick is a twine that is covered in beeswax. It burns slowly and functions as the perfect accompaniment to any session. With hemp wick, you do not inhale butane and other harmful fumes as one would with a traditional lighter. 17. Trying to mask the smell of pot? Make a “Sploof”
This frequenter of dorm-rooms has been keeping stoners out of trouble for a long time! While this hack is not entirely fault-free, it definitely makes a huge difference. Save your empty toilet paper rolls and stuff them with fresh dryer sheets. During your next sesh, exhale all your green goodness into your new sploof and smell the magic as it happens.
